Time Will Tell And So Will Casio Watches

June 28th, 2010

As Casio Watches deliberately attract customers, it is only natural to wonder how they have become so successful. Well, Casio Watches bear a proud history, which is only natural enough for products from such a legendary company with such a line of industry “firsts” to its credit. Through humble beginnings as a successful manufacturer of cigarette lighter rings (this is Japan, after all, the land of gizmos and gadgets galore) to the world’s first ever all-electric compact calculator in 1957, Casio watches has been innovating ever since, following up with the first graphing calculator in history, the first digital camera with an LCD screen on the market, the first 3 megapixel digital camera in the world…and so on and so forth goes its long list of technological achievements. And so it came to pass quite naturally enough in 1974 that the Casiotron was born, first of many successful Casio watches since, debuting just when the industry was starting to embed digital technologies in its designs.

The company has been a leader of the field ever since, a well-respected pioneer in a business with giants like Sony and Samsung. Casio watches were the first to offer many of what are standard features today, with a history that is a veritable “what’s what” in horological and consumer electronics hallmarks. As Casio stands tall these days they also did before the ‘90s with their many returning and satisfied consumers using their products in formals and important events. As a result Casio marketed their newer and much stronger products and allowed previous customers to have a trade in for their older equipment for an upgrade.

Like their famous Databank series of Casio watches. Debuting in the early ’80s, long before any PDA, smartphone, or other do-it-all convergence device, the Databank was a very clever and handy timepiece for storing contact information and other data, with some models even offering the day of the week in up to thirteen different languages – a really nifty feat for the time. Then there was the “jet setter version” that kept track of different time worldwide. One interesting Databank even doubled as a universal remote for home entertainment units such as cable boxes, television sets, and VCR players! The Databank line has proved so popular that it’s still being made today, despite all the do-it-all convergence devices previously mentioned. In fact, one current bestseller is the retro-chic model, looking just like an original Databank.

Another extremely popular series in the Casio lineup is the G Shock that’s favored by uniformed personnel. They feature on-board altimeters, barometers, compasses, and more – all on one watch. Of course, there is also shock resistance, as well as water resistance. The G Shock has been so successful that a “Baby-G” offshoot has been developed for young teens, with more compact designs and vibrant stylish colors along with the same winning G Shock features of durability and all-round utility. Last but not least, no review of Casio watches could be complete without mentioning venerable Pathfinders for outdoor adventuring. Though sharing many features in common with the G Shock, the Pathfinder was expressly designed for hiking through the woods or kayaking streams and rivers.
